Webinar | Competition Law in the Days of COVID-19: Europe, the United States and Israel

May 6th 2020

The impact of COVID-19 is being felt by businesses around the world, presenting unprecedented legal challenges. These turbulent times raise many questions relating to the implementation of competition laws:

  • Can competitors come together to overcome their business challenges?
  • Can they jointly petition the government to receive aid?
  • Do merger-control rules apply regularly even if the acquired business is in dire financial straits?

These are just some of the questions currently facing corporations around the world.

In recent weeks Competition Authorities worldwide provided guidance for the days of COVID-19. These guidelines and recent cases provide important insight into the way Competition Law will be enforced in this new era.

We were delighted to host Dr. Christian Steinle, Partner in Competition Law from Gleiss Lutz (Stuttgart/Brussels) and Dina Kallay, Head of Antitrust (IPR, Americas & Asia Pacific), Ericsson, who joined us to discuss the main developments and the day-to-day dilemmas faced by corporations operating in the United States, European Union and Israel.

The webinar was moderated by Dr. David Tadmor and Shai Bakal.
