Environmental Law

In recent years, Israel has witnessed a growing public and regulatory awareness of environmental issues. We provide professional and comprehensive legal advice in a wide range of environmental aspects, such as air and water pollution, land contamination, solid and hazardous waste disposal, hazardous substances, land use planning and development, noise pollution, radiation pollution, energy regulation and agro-ecology.

Our environmental law practice has been recognized by various international and local legal directories, including Practical Law Company (PLC) and Dun’s 100, as a leader in the field. Our firm holds an annual environmental conference, which is considered the largest international environmental conference in Israel, that spearheads discussion on the main trends, policies and innovations in sustainability and environmental protection. The conference provides a platform for dialogue on environmental policy, regulation and technological developments by key policy makers, legal practitioners, the private sector and NGOs.

The synergy between our environmental law practice group and our other practice groups enables us to provide our clients with effective solutions to their ongoing multi-faceted environmental concerns. We advise companies on their everyday activities, assist in the drafting of environmental contract provisions, conduct environmental due diligence in real estate and other relevant transactions and prepare risk management and EMS (Environmental Management System) programs.

A large portion of our services includes representing clients before administrative, civil and criminal tribunals, government agencies, administrative bodies and governmental committees. We also advise officers and directors, in connection with civil and criminal complaints arising from environmental violations, on how to effectively manage their environmental risks. Particularly noteworthy is our involvement in a series of fifteen toxic tort lawsuits, which were the largest brought in the country in the toxic tort field and were the first of their kind, both in nature and scope, in Israel.

We also provide legal consultation with respect to legal aspects of environmental insurance, lenders’ and credit rating companies’ liability, as well as projects in the framework of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol regarding reduction of greenhouse gases.
