Our firm represented the leading secondary-lead smelter in the Middle East in a petition brought before the Supreme Court of Israel. The petitioner, a company manufacturing accumulators, claimed that it should not be compelled to abide by a decision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, instructing the company to transfer waste to our client’s plant and denying the petitioner a permit to export waste of accumulators containing lead that are considered hazardous substances. We successfully petitioned the Supreme Court of Israel on behalf of our client to join the motion as an appellee, claiming that the waste of accumulators containing lead should be transferred to the our client’s plant for environmental treatment, in accordance with the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal.
