First Ever State-Wide Optic Fiber Infrastructure Project

Our firm serves as legal counsel of the successful bidder in a tender for the installation and operation of a fixed telecommunications infrastructure.

Following the instruction of the Israeli government, the Israel Electric Corporation (“IEC”) was authorized by the Ministry of Communication to install and operate a fixed telecommunication infrastructure deployed on the electricity network, by virtue of a newly formed company. The total estimated investment for the project is several billion Israeli Shekels. IEC is the sole integrated electric utility in the State of Israel, engaged in various business activities, primarily the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Pursuant to further determination that this new company would be formed with another company who would be elected as the controlling shareholder, pursuant to a public tender process, the tender process was initiated. In this process we represented a Swedish company, which joined several other local and offshore companies (the “Consortium”). Preparation of the bid included negotiations with the IEC, with various regulatory authorities and numerous Israeli corporate entities, as well as addressing complex matters related to tender law, antitrust law, corporate, and telecommunications law. The Consortium was successful in its bid, and we now serve as legal counsel of the new telecommunications company working on this groundbreaking project.
