Bio

Liel Golani Baranes is a partner in the Commercial Litigation practice group and leads the Family law practice. She specializes in dispute resolution, commercial litigation, family and inheritance law, and family wealth management.

Qualified as a mediator in family disputes, Liel serves as a mediator in complex family disputes, amongst others. She is also certified by the Attorney General at the Ministry of Justice for continuous powers of attorney.

Over the course of her career, Liel has represented clients in significant and complex cases, to the extent of tens and hundreds of millions of dollars, providing ongoing legal counsel to large Israeli and foreign corporations, as well as to private individuals.

Liel has lectured on inheritance law, managing estates and financial and prenuptial agreements. She also co-authored a preparatory booklet on inheritance law for the Israel Bar Association’s examinations.

Liel joined the firm as a partner in July 2019, following a period working as a sole practitioner. She previously practiced at S. Horowitz & Co. and Yosef Mendelson & Co.

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Represented one of Israel’s largest construction companies and its European joint venture partner, in a $285 million claim against The Israel Port Company.
  • Represented a large government infrastructure company in multi-million-dollar arbitration proceedings against a contractor, in connection with an infrastructure project.
  • Represented one of Israel’s largest healthcare service providers in a range of disputes with health professionals and patients.
  • Represented a hospital in financial claims for tens of millions of shekels against various contractors.
  • Represented a hospital in legal proceedings concerning performance of a genetic test for family ties, as a result of an error in IVF procedures.
  • Represented high-net-worth individuals and family members in complex inheritance disputes, divorce proceedings, annulments, property claims, alimony claims, child custody, and child support claims.
  • Represented and advised on disputes in relation to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.
  • Preparation of complex prenuptial agreements, divorce settlements, wills and continuous powers of attorney.
