Nir Kehat is a partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution department. With extensive experience since 1994, Nir has extensive experience and knowledge in all aspects of civil, commercial, and corporate law, as well as in administrative law, insurance, shareholders disputes, banking, toxic tort, liquidation and insolvency proceedings, infrastructure and energy, real estate, construction, trademark, private international law and privacy issues.

Nir leads and is personally involved in numerous, large and extremely complex litigation civil cases, including class actions, and administrative proceedings. Nir routinely appears before all courts and tribunals, including the Israeli supreme court, arbitrations, and alternate dispute resolution proceedings.

Nir’s roster of clients includes, leading national and multinational clients, and he acts for some of the country’s leading player as well as global multinationals, across a very wide section of industries and economic sectors, among others: leading insurance companies in Israel, the largest government infrastructure company in Israel, major construction companies, key companies in the chemical industry, as well as in the financial sector.

Nir has extensive experience in representing clients in construction and infrastructure projects – starting at the tender stage, throughout the course of the project, as well as disputes relating to construction, building and design defects, and land and planning matters. Prior to joining the firm, Nir practiced for many years at another of Israel’s distinguished law firms.

Between 1995-1997, Nir served as a teaching assistant for Contracts at the Law School of the College of Management for Prof. D. Friedman and Prof. O. Grosskopf.

Prior to his legal career, Nir served as a helicopter pilot in the IAF and holds the rank of Major (Res.).

EXPERIENCE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Multi-million dollar product liability class action against an international aesthetic medical corporation.
  • Multi-Million dollar arbitration proceedings between a large government infrastructure company against contractors in connection with an infrastructure project which costed billions of NIS
  • Representation of numerous government companies in the field of infrastructure in numerous administrative proceedings in the District Court (and appeals in the Supreme Court) in issues relating to tender procedures, some in the amounts of Hundreds of millions of NIS.
  • Multi-million dollar toxic tort claims filed by over 100 soldiers claiming they received bodily injury as a result of their exposure to toxic chemicals in the Kishon River during their military service All claims were rejected by the Haifa District Court. An appeal to the Supreme Court was also rejected.
  • Multi-million dollar toxic tort claims filed by over 50 fishermen claiming they received bodily injury as a result of their exposure to toxic chemicals in the Kishon River during their work. All claims were rejected by the Haifa District Court. An appeal to the Supreme Court was also rejected.
  • Multi-million dollar toxic tort claim filed by over 90 persons living near the Ramat Hovav industrial area claiming they received bodily injury as a result of their exposure to toxic chemicals emitted from Ramat Hovav industrial area. All claims were rejected by the Beer Sheva District Court; an appeal to the Supreme Court was also rejected.
  • Multi-million dollar arbitration involving claim for 50% of the worth of Israel’s largest oil company. A precedential Supreme Court Decision on arbitration law was given relating one of the arbitrator’s interim decisions.
  • Multi-million dollar dispute between a prominent Israeli Bank and several foreign banks and others, relating to seven steel shipments to Israel that were released from port without the original bill of lading which was held in trust by the Israeli Bank.

  • Multi-million dollar tort claim filed by two Hemophilia patients who claimed they were infected by HIV and Hepatitis B as a result of contaminated blood factors they used which were produced by defendants. Both claims were rejected. An appeal to the Supreme Court was rejected.
  • Multi-million dollar class action against an Israeli mortgage bank relating to the insurance payments made after the borrower’s death. The class action was rejected by the Tel-Aviv District Court; an appeal to the Supreme Court was also rejected.
  • Multi-million dollar class action against Israeli Insurance Companies relating to question whether VAT should be added to insurance benefits under certain circumstances. The class action was rejected by the District Court; an appeal to the Supreme Court was also rejected.
